Massage FAQ's

It is common to have questions, and even feel intimidated, before your first massage therapy session. It is an incredibly unique industry which is based on trust between the therapist and the client but when practiced according to the highest levels of ethics and integrity, can offer enormous benefits physically, mentally and emotionally. I've addressed some of the most common questions associated with massage therapy below, but I am ALWAYS happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have. Feel free to contact me and I would be delighted to help!

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FROM THE FIRST SESSION?

Though every session will begin with an intake to determine how you feel and what your goals for the session are, the first session is slightly more in-depth as we discuss relevant medical history and assess any underlying causes. This intake is critical to helping the therapist create an effective massage session specifically for you and your needs. It does Not take away from your hands-on time. After the intake, the therapist will leave the room so you can undress to your level of comfort and lie under the sheets on the massage table. After the session, the therapist will leave the room so you can redress for the post-session assessment.

DO I NEED TO UNDRESS?

The most important aspect of any massage therapy session is that YOU are comfortable. It is typical for clients to undress down to underwear, but it is very easy to adapt the massage to accommodate your comfort level if you would prefer to leave any or all clothing layers on.

HOW LONG DOES A SESSION LAST?

Whether you are booking a 60 minute appointment or a 90 minute, you will get that full time for the hands-on massage. The only exceptions are if you are running more than a couple minutes late, or if for some reason the intake lasts longer than 5 minutes. Plan on the appointment including an extra 10 minutes to account for the pre-session intake, post-session assessment, any extra questions and set-up/break-down time.

WHAT IF I CAN'T MAKE MY SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT?

If you need to cancel your appointment the day of the session, you will be charged the full cost. If you cancel the day before your appt you will not be charged at all. It is completely understandable that things come up at the last minute, but in order to maintain the necessary trust between the therapist and the client, we need to be respectful of each other's time.

Due to the nature of scheduling and coordinating travel between clients, it can be difficult to fill a cancelled appointment. To that end, if there are regular cancellations, I will need to refer you to another provider.

WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?

Currently I am offering mobile massage which means I come to you! There is no extra fee for this service unless the distance from my home in South Park, San Diego is greater than 2 miles in which case there is an extra $20 travel fee for time/expenses. At this time I'm not able to travel further than 12 miles.

ARE THERE ANY OTHER SERVICES AVAILABLE THAT ARE NOT LISTED?

All services are listed on the website. Any client who does not maintain appropriate boundaries for a therapeutic massage session will cause the massage to be ended immediately and will be charged the full cost of the session.

CAN I BOOK AN APPOINTMENT ONLINE?

I will not be offering online booking due to the nature of my business being travel-based. It's necessary that I coordinate the timing of appointments with the locations of different clients, distances, and traffic. Online booking isn't a practical option unfortunately, but I am more than happy to work personally with each client to schedule an appointment time that works for both of us!

HOW FAR DO YOU TRAVEL?

At this time, I'm not able to travel further than 12 miles from my home in South Park, San Diego in order to fulfill all my current clients' needs.
