About Grassroots Massage
Holistic medicine is the art and science of healing that addresses the mind, body and spirit. Through my San Diego massage therapy practice, I strive to promote overall well-being in my patients by taking a holistic approach to healing. As a mobile massage therapist, I am able to meet patients where they are most comfortable and ensure their wellness journey begins in the home!
My Story
Gretchen Vogt has been practicing massage therapy since 2010, having trained at the American Institute of Alternative Health in Columbus, Ohio with a specialized focus in neuromuscular therapy. She pursued her interest in clinical massage through further work with a wellness center in Melbourne, Australia which expanded her knowledge in proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation and site-specific massage. Upon returning to the US and working in spa environments, she began to incorporate more elements of Swedish and relaxation massage into her style of therapy until it has become a deep, flow based practice.
By incorporating the breath of her clients in order to achieve a deep state of relaxation, Gretchen facilitates the release of chronic or acute muscular tension through working in harmony with the muscle rather than forcing a result. Due to her experience with a wide variety of modalities, she is able to tailor each session's therapy to the individual rather than providing a one-size-fits-all experience. She is honored to work with clients on a range of issues from stress relief to chronic pain to prenatal or oncology care.
Why Grassroots?
Although we tend to use massage therapy because of a specific issue, sore neck or shoulders for example, it actually provides the most benefit when we examine the root causes underlying the main issue. It is challenging to completely fix a problem through one session of massage therapy; by addressing the roots of an issue, in addition to the issue itself, we can ensure a longer lasting and sustaining result from each session. Some sessions may involve stretching for example, or an examination of postural habits, or a discussion of self-care techniques which can be practiced at home.

The path to optimum health and wellness can seem to be made up of slow steps to progress, but by caring for the roots as thoroughly as the issue itself, we can help ensure that progress is steady and continuous.
